Honey Rush Theme—Fun, but Missing Some Killer Bees

Play’n GO has made it obvious that you’re playing in a beehive, and the graphics are good. It’s colourful, extremely bright, and the symbols all stand out well. However, there’s a distinct lack of bees. I think the visuals are good on the whole, but adding some bees flying around would be a massive improvement. 

The sounds are passable. While they’re not the best on the market, they do enough to make Honey Rush casinos a pleasant experience.

Colony Feature

The Colony Feature can trigger randomly on any spin that doesn’t win. When it triggers, one of three colonies will activate.

• Queen – Creates between a 20 and 37-symbol cluster around the centre symbol

Rush Meter

When you create a win, all winning symbols are collected by the Rush Meter. At each stage, it awards a bonus feature which boosts what’s on the reels. Every win through each cascade counts towards the meter, but it resets as soon as there’s a losing spin. The following stages are available:

• Level 1: After 20 symbols, it triggers the Drone Colony Feature and adds 1 sticky wild
• Level 2: After 40 symbols, it triggers the Drone Colony Feature and adds 1 sticky wild
• Level 3: After 80 symbols, it triggers the Drone Colony Feature and adds 1 sticky wild
• Level 4: After 160 symbols, it triggers the Queen Colony Feature

Sticky Wilds

Sticky wilds only land through the Rush Meter. They remain on the reels until there’s a losing spin, and move whenever they’re part of a winning cluster. They can also appear with up to a 3x multiplier attached, which can combine with other sticky wilds for a total potential multiplier of 27x.

Honey Rush is a fun slot, but it could do with a larger maximum payout and a specific bonus round.

I enjoyed playing Honey Rush for the most part. The cluster mechanics and cascading reels make it exciting, and the potential multipliers can create some excellent payouts. However, it’s missing a little bit to make it a standout game. 

The lack of Free Spins is frustrating, and the max win of 9,000x your stake is below the biggest modern games. It has some room for improvement, and it’s obvious that Play’n GO realised this by putting resources into creating a revamped version. This is still worth a try if you want to see where the series started out.
