Miami Mayhem™ Theme—Stay Safe and Avoid the Street Mayhem

As the name already suggests, there is nothing like peace in the Miami Mayhem™ slot game. Picture an urban street gang running every corner of the city, intimidating residents and clashing with rival crews. It feels like one of those new online slots inspired by Grand Theft Auto.

The grid is set on a street with Diego el Fuego, one of the gang members, armed with a baseball bat. He is replaced by Ghosting Gordo, another jacked criminal, and Roxie Rizz in the bonus rounds. Although the designs look clean and sharp, I wasn’t entirely thrilled by them.

The tense soundtrack matches the crime theme, and it ramps up in the bonus round. However, the occasional voiceover didn’t do it for me.

Expanding Crew Reel

When a Crew symbol lands, it will transform into an expanding symbol, Crew Reel, if there is a possibility that it takes part in a winning combination. The expanded symbol covers the entire grid, displaying a crew member.

The expanded symbol counts as a Wild, helping to complete winning combinations. It can also reveal a multiplier value between 2x and 100x, which applies to the winnings the Crew Reel is part of.

If multiple Crew Reels with multipliers take part in a win, the multiplier values are first summed up before being applied to the payout.

Missions

A Wanted symbol, represented by a Star with sirens, activates a Mission sequence when it lands on the reels. When triggered, it activates a Wanted Level bar, assigns a Mission Target, and awards 3 respins.

A random high-paying symbol is selected as the target at the beginning of a mission. To complete the mission, land a winning combination that includes the target symbol within the awarded respins.

Completing a mission resets the spin counter and increases the Wanted Level by at least 1, and also unlocks another mission. The progress continues until the 5th Wanted Level, where the progress becomes static.

In addition, the minimum multiplier value on the Crew Reel increases progressively with the Wanted Level.

The Hit Bonus Game

Landing 3 Scatters in the base game triggers 10 free spins. You have better chances of landing the crew symbols in the bonus round. A mission is triggered at the start of the round, and the Wanted Levels will be progressive, so respins aren’t awarded.

Retrigger 2 and 4 free spins by landing 2 and 3 Scatters, respectively.

We Split Bonus Game

Trigger this bonus game by landing 4 Scatter symbols in the base game. The round starts with 10 free spins, and it maintains the mechanics of the Hit Bonus, but here, each reel has a Mayhem Bar.

Whenever a Crew Reel appears, the respective Mayhem Bar is filled, and a Crew Spin is awarded after the last free spin. In this spin, collected Crew Reels appear with multiplier values.

Hidden Epic Bonus

Can Hacksaw Gaming ever get it wrong? Well, not with the Miami Mayhem™ slot. Although I have seen more fascinating visuals from the provider, this doesn’t perform badly. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a Grand Theft Auto title—vibrant, bold and unrepentantly violent.

At this rate, it’s fair to say that the studio has made the expanding reel wild multiplier mechanic its own. Just like what we saw in Aiko and the Wind Spirit™ and Fighter Pit™, the multiplier values cap at 100x and play a big role in delivering the top reward.

The Mission feature stood out to me during my playtest. Every respin builds anticipation of forming a win with the target symbol, which unlocks a new mission. It’s not something I have come across often.
